The Board of Directors at its January meeting voted for a 3.5% dues increase effective April 1st, 2021. While the Club’s 2020 financial year was favorable, it was a result of good expense management and the substantial benefit from the covid-19 federal government relief the Club received. We do not expect aid of this amount going forward.
In addition to the continuing health crisis, financial challenges to Duck Woods remain. The club has sustained years of rising product costs and both staff and professional labor costs without adequate dues increases. In all but one of the last few years we have used our cash reserve to cover our revenue shortfalls. Without some adjustments the Club will continually be challenged as expenses outpace revenues. A small dues increase at this time helps reverse the trend of using cash and keeps us on a better financial path.
