DWLTA News
After surviving a difficult year of Covid-19 the tennis program at DWCC continues to flourish. With restrictions being lifted and vaccines being administered we have seen more players returning to the courts.
The DWLTA had their first Social and Quarterly Meeting in March. Many members attended, playing tennis first and then enjoying light snacks and refreshments at the meeting after. We welcomed our new members, Lynn Watts, Robin Hearne, Marcie Reese and Becky Voslow. We are happy to have you join us.
We were finally able to have our first tennis social since Covid-19 cancelled so many the past year. The Spring Kick-off was held April 3rd. It was great to reconnect with some of our members while playing Tennis and Pickleball. Everyone had a great time playing and socializing. We look forward to more events like this as the year progresses.
The LTA would like to extend our heartfelt sympathy to the Colegrove family. John Colegrove passed away unexpectedly a few months ago. Janet is an avid tennis player and member of the LTA. Both she and John supported the tennis community for many years. The LTA paid tribute to John at a small memorial service on April 6th. We picked out a Hashino cherry tree which, along with a beautiful memorial plaque is planted beside the upper parking lot. The tree can be seen from the Colegrove home. If you stand by the tree you can see the golf course and tennis courts. John will be dearly missed but his memory will live on.
The LTA board would like to extend an invitation to all Duck Woods tennis players to join the LTA. The LTA board welcomes any questions you may have about our organization by contacting any one of us.
