DWMGA News

AND AWAY WE GO! May is a great time to make sure you are part of the Men’s Golf Association (MGA) at Duck Woods. The course is greening up, the greens are recovering from aeration, and the pro shop is buzzing with activity. May 1st will be our season opening tournament with a 9am shotgun. The format for this year will be Lone Ranger. A quick overview of this fun format starts with the Pro Shop creating ABCD player teams based on handicap. Then on each hole one player (based on hole difficulty) will be the lone ranger (max net double bogey score) and the other three will play a scramble format and both scores will be added together. In addition, our season-long Ringers and Shootout programs also kick off in May.

Our other tournaments this season (for MGA members only) are the 2-day Member-Member event (July 16-17), 2-man match play (season long), and the annual Tommy Wine event (Oct 30th).

Also new for this year will be several ‘Play Days’, where a group of MGA members will travel with Aaron to play a non-competitive round at some of his favorite tracks about 1-2 hours away.

Because we strongly believe that being a part of the MGA program is a unique opportunity, for a limited time only in a limited quantity, we are offering a one-time special for current golf members who are not part of the MGA. If you join for the 2021 season ($15 fee posted to your account), you will get a free sleeve of MGA imprinted Chrome Soft golf balls (a $15 value) which should be available sometime in late May (once the order is received from the manufacturer). All you have to do is let the Pro Shop know that you are interested in joining the MGA and they will take care of getting you signed up and on the distribution list.

If you have questions or comments for the MGA at any time, please reach out to any MGA officer (me, Ed Kitchens, Dave Ahern, and Curt Baskette) or ask the Pro Shop.

See you on the course!

Dave Roberts, 2021 MGA Secretary
