The Duck Woods tennis facility, with four lighted Har-Tru clay courts, offers an inviting atmosphere for players to enjoy lessons, social games, or competitive matches.

Our energetic and enthusiastic tennis staff is led by USPTR Professional, Kevin Cretella. He and USPTR Professional, Whitney Brodeur, are eager to address your tennis needs and offer all new members a complimentary lesson/evaluation.

Kevin Cretella has an impressive playing and coaching background. Kevin played Division 1 Men’s Tennis at James Madison University. He has taught at IMG Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Bradenton, FL, The Ritz Carlton in Key Biscayne, Miami, East Hampton Indoor Tennis in The Hamptons, NY, and more. Kevin was also coach to ATP World Tour professional player Arthur Surreaux for several years.

Whitney Brodeur has been with Duck Woods Country Club for over twenty years. A longtime local, he has twenty-five years of teaching experience in the Outer Banks. Whitney employs a feel good based approach to teaching and has a keen eye for the technical aspects of the game.

Private and semi-private lessons are available. There are organized clinics regularly scheduled for children to seniors. The tennis staff is always ready to design a program to meet specific individual or family requests.

For those interested in competitive play, Duck Woods members participate in USTA adult league play and club championship events. In addition, Duck Woods sponsors open doubles tournaments for men, women and mixed. Regardless of your level, the staff will always assist in finding you a game or group with whom to play.

On the social side, the tennis staff schedules many fun events throughout the year including a season kick-off party, mixed doubles socials, and team tennis events. In addition, the Ladies Tennis Association, the Men’s Tennis Association and the Pickleball Association sponsor fun tennis events and get-togethers year-round.

Regarding equipment, the professional and his staff are ready to help you with questions regarding racquets, strings, grips, shoes, or bags. The staff can also help with custom orders or selecting the perfect gift for someone special.

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player, the Duck Woods tennis professionals will enrich your tennis experience.

Pickleball

The Duck Woods pickleball facility includes four lighted hard-court Pickleball courts, two lighted Har-Tru clay courts and offers an inviting atmosphere for players to enjoy a lesson, social game, or competitive match.

Pickleball is a paddle sport created for all ages and skill levels. It is the nation’s fastest growing sport and is highly social. The rules are simple, and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive sports activity for experienced players.

Our professional staff offers regularly scheduled open play and clinics for beginners through advanced players. Private or semi-private lessons can be set up upon request. DWCC holds a variety of pickleball social events and competitive tournaments throughout the year, including, but not limited to, mixed doubles socials and club championship tournaments.
