It appears that the theme for this year is going to be “Flexibility First!” After planning for a welcome back celebration as our first in-person meeting in 18 months, we regretfully decided to cancel that luncheon and plan virtual meetings for the rest of this calendar year. While that was disappointing, the Board decided to err on the side of caution as we deal with the uptick of COVID cases on the Outer Banks. Our program committee, led by JoAnn Small and Ginger Webster, went into high gear and rearranged programs, talked with presenters about virtual visits, and came up with a wonderfully creative program for Oct. 6th. Via our old friend Zoom, we will visit the KDH Cooperative Gallery and enjoy the wide variety of artists’ talents on display. The Travel Fashions program, previously planned for this October, has been saved for next year when we can enjoy it in person. Discussions are underway about fundraising opportunities to take the place of our table decoration raffles and the Holiday Bazaar that normally support our budget. Watch your email for details! Thank you to all the members who participated in our first Survey Monkey vote of the year and approved our 2021-22 Budget, along with the minutes of the June 2 general meeting. Please stay safe, wear your masks, and enjoy a few good books as we move ever-so-slowly towards the end of the COVID crisis!
