Can summer be ending so soon? I hope everyone has enjoyed seeing family and friends, taking a couple of trips, and, of course, playing on the beach! While we were enjoying all the warm weather, JoAnn Small, Ginger Webster, and their committee have been hard at work planning a year of exciting WADWCC programs for our monthly luncheons. After our Welcome Back Meeting on September 1, we will enjoy planning our travel wardrobes with some of our local boutique owners in October. We can look forward to seeing fashions from Bloom, Mangos, and Zen & Zip!

Have you noticed the planters full of seasonal blooms on the front porch of the club? Sally Lowe, one of our very loyal and talented WADWCC members, has used her gardening skills year after year to make our club entrance so welcoming; however, it is now time for her to take a rest from choosing flowers, coordinating the watering sessions, and keeping an eye on the blooms. If you are a gardener who loves to have her hands in dirt, please consider taking on this project! This opportunity seems perfect for a team of friends who love spending time outside together. Feel free to contact Sally at SallyLowe@embarqmail.com or (252) 202-9370, or Mary Ahearn at ahearnmary9@gmail.com or (757)876-0801 for details.

Blood Drive – Jan Collins
The August 10 & 11 Blood Drive at Holy Redeemer Church produced 94 Units on August 10th and 99 Units on August 11th for a total of 193 Units. The goal was 184 units. The Red Cross asked everyone to wear a mask as we are still dealing with the COVID 19 Variant and living in a Red Zone for infection. Beth Flynn, who has been a long-time volunteer with the Blood Drive, was invaluable in assisting our volunteers with the computer registration. A Big Thank-you to Beth and Patty Nelson who used this drive as training for Jan Collins/Pat Price who will take over chairing the Blood Drive and to Mary Ahern who came in on short notice to fill in. WADWCCC Volunteers included:

Sign-in Desk: Kathy Sanborn, Ann Laughner, Pat Toolan, Ellen Kruse, Jan Collins.
Monitors for the Donors: Nancy Whaley, Lynn Blackburn, Nancy Klahre, Mary Ahern and Patty Nelson.

A special thank you from The Red Cross, Mike Koponski with Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and Patty Nelson and Jan to all who volunteered. Without your support this Blood Drive would not have been such a success.
